Letter from the Executive Director
Spring is here, the birds are chirping, tulips are blooming, lives are improving, my son Zaki is approaching 30 months seizure free - and filling our fundraising cup is underway. This month’s newsletter is focused on our fundraising efforts and why they are so necessary to the continuance of our organization's ability to serve its mission. When we say that the Realm could not do it without you, we mean it. We receive no government funding of any sort. We are completely and wholly funded by individual donors and organizations like yourself. We do continue to apply for grants but what we do may be considered a little unprecedented, so we have not realized any funding through grants... yet. I hold hope in this area.
All of the programs and services we provide are completely free. We took and made about 835 calls last week. My care specialist Nicole, after taking a call from a client that lasted about an hour, was asked, “if we made a commision?” I don’t think commissions are paid on improving quality of life! If they were, we’d be fully funded. I got a kick out of that question and thought this issue would be a good time to tell you how we raise money, and why you are crucial to our success.
No, we don’t charge a penny for the services that we provide. We hope we will never have to. We are primarily focused on taking care of the families that use cannabinoid products by providing them with information from our collective data. We are also happy to talk with their physicians. We are a resource and referral agency in addition to educating and advocating for these families. We conduct research on the families using cannabinoid products, and provide family assistance grants to families in need. These activities take time and money, both of which are gifts you give. And I thank you sincerely for your ability to see the importance of what we do. I honor you for your commitment to helping take care of society’s most vulnerable members.
My deepest gratitude,
