Realm of Caring Foundation Participates in Oscar Event at Hollywood Legion Hall
A nonprofit based out of Colorado Springs is making their list and checking it twice. After all, it’s not every day that a Colorado nonprofit is offered a table backstage at an Oscars event. But that is exactly what happened for Heather Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Realm of Caring Foundation and her team. “Corina of Corsus Body Care is the aunt of one of our clients. She wanted to make sure that celebrities at this event found out what Realm of Caring is doing. She asked if we would make a card to hand out at her table at the event, and then she said ‘I think I can get you a table, would you guys like that?’ We were all so shocked and excited!” said Jackson.
The Celebrity Gift Room event is an established part of the Oscars weekend, celebrating the 88th Oscars Feb 27th and 28th, where an excess of 100 celebrities meet and greet different businesses, usually comprised of for-profit companies. Realm of Caring will not only have a presence at the event, but also a booth to give away information about their foundation.“Their booth is sure to be a hot one.” said Annette McArthur, the event chair.
Currently Realm of Caring is partnered with Johns Hopkins University and conducting the largest observational study in the world of epilepsy patients using cannabis products, they will be opening their study for all clients very soon. Jackson’s son Zaki was featured in the CNN WEED documentary in 2013 hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, where Realm of Caring and the Stanley Brothers gained most of their notoriety. Zaki, who suffers from Doose Syndrome, a catastrophic form of childhood epilepsy, is currently 40 months seizure free with only Charlotte’s Web™ hemp oil, the longest of any child on record.
"The Oscars event is an incredible opportunity to spread our message and gain support for our mission. Acting as representatives for thousands of our clients, we fully expect to change hearts and minds, and to create relationships to further enhance our research, education, and advocacy initiatives," said Sam Riggio, Realm of Caring Director of Operations, as well as father of 5 year old Franny, who uses cannabis oil to help with seizures associated with Dravet Syndrome. Heather and Sam are part of the Realm of Caring team that heads to LA out of Denver early Friday morning.###
