A quick update at the national level, for all of our fellow research nerds: The Institute of Medicine of the US National Academy of Sciences recently released a report on the health effects of cannabis. The report was originally published in 1999, and has been updated this year, with the most current assessment providing evidence that cannabis has proven medicinal uses for treating:
Furthermore, the Institute asked the government to allow further research to determine the effectiveness and possible risks associated with cannabinoid therapies. Now, as you can imagine, we here at the Realm of Caring Foundation are absolutely pleased to hear this. We started receiving anecdotal evidence daily in 2013 as to the therapeutic qualities, which is what eventually spurred our passion and persistence to create the Observational Research Registry, or ORR, as well as a partnership with Johns Hopkins University Medical School. So far, over 1,400 participants have enrolled.
What makes the ORR opportunity so wonderful is we encourage those using cannabinoid therapy as well as those NOT using, so we can get a good look at a control group, to compare exactly what improvements, if any, there are.
